Hello from ground zero of the hostmydragbike HQ. I want to take this time to tell you a little background on this project and later on I will give you an idea where I hope to go with it.
I have been building conventional motorcycles for several years and touring with some of the major players in that industry. I was also a computer tech for several fortune 500 companies for 14 years. So the thought was make a really fast dragbike with a server on it and market it as " THE WORLDS FASTEST SERVER" . Great idea but 2 things were missing- the right crew and the right marketing. With the economy not great the bike industry has slowed and I took a job with a company called hostmysite.com and found that they had the customer service I always had felt was important and some great techs. I had also added a Fab. and Mechanical guru at my shop named KEV THE REV.He is without a doubt the best partner I could have asked for.
I had arranged to display some of my work at host my site's 11th anniversary party and spoke with their marketing department about my idea. It was met with "Yea that sounds cool...bla....bla...bla. Earl Smith and I kept bugging people and eventually marketing asked " How much and How Long?". I answered those questions and we came to an agreement. We were off to the races so to speak. Rob C. and I decided that we needed more of a challenge so we made the bike all electric (thought of earlier but figured ehh) make it 2 load balanced servers and for good measure gps and webcams. Oh yea we also only get 100 days to build it!!!
So for the next 90 or so days I will be doing tech support at night and building this bike with Kev during the day. And trying to see my wife and son!!
Take a look around and meet all the F&(king brainiacs who will be doing the real work on the backend of this project. Without their "donated time" this would never happen.
